Who we are

What we collect

When you contact us or apply for a job

The forms on this site ask for your name, company, email address, phone number, a message and, if you choose, an attachment such as a drawing or a résumé. We use that information to reply to you, scope your project or consider your application. Form submissions are delivered to us through Netlify, our website host, which stores a copy so we can retrieve it.

When you use the GIP client portal

The portal is for clients with an active project. We keep your name, work email, company and the projects you are a contact for. Signing in is by a link emailed to you; once you are signed in, one cookie (gip_portal) keeps you signed in on that device for up to 30 days. The portal records what happens on your project — when an estimate was viewed, accepted or declined, when a release was acknowledged, and the questions asked and answered — because that is the project record you and we both rely on. Files you upload are stored with your project in our Google Workspace.

Automatically

Like any website, ours receives your IP address and browser details with each request. Netlify keeps standard server logs for a short period for security and reliability. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers on this site.

Cookies and local storage

The public website sets no cookies. It stores one small preference in your browser (gip-hero-model) so the 3D model on the home page rotates between visits. The client portal sets the single sign-in cookie described above; it is essential to the service and contains no tracking. Because there are no advertising or analytics cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If that ever changes, this page will change with it.

Third-party services

A few things on this site load from other companies, and your browser contacts them directly:

• Google Fonts and the model-viewer library, from Google’s content network, so pages and 3D models display correctly.
• Google Maps, embedded on the Contact page, which may set Google cookies in your browser under Google’s privacy policy.
• Netlify hosts the site and handles form submissions.
• Google Workspace holds our email, project files and the portal’s records.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with anyone except these service providers and, where a project requires it, the fabricators, contractors and engineers of record working on your job.

How long we keep it

Contact-form messages are kept as long as we are working with you or the enquiry is open, then removed within a reasonable time. Job applications are kept for the hiring cycle unless you ask us to keep them on file. Project records — drawings, estimates, transmittals, RFIs and the portal history — are part of the engineering record for that project and are retained in line with our professional obligations as licensed engineers.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it as part of a project record. Email info@gilesip.com. Portal contacts can be removed from a project at any time by asking their GIP project manager.

Children

This site is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes that affect portal users will also be noted in the portal.
